Privam - Kenya
A syrupy sophomore release from Privam Estate. Nestled on the high plateaus of Mount Kenya, producers Rita and Patrick Mukundi follow a polyculture system with their macadamia and coffee crops. Heavy green foliage from the macadamia trees allow smaller SL-28, SL-34, and Batian coffee plants to mature slowly, and together create very nutrient-rich growing conditions.
Exceptional cultivation is what makes this coffee pop. Privam’s complex, stewed fruit flavour is impossible to miss.

People & Place
Rita & Patrick Mukundi, Privam Estate
Privam Estate is a small, family-owned farm at the foothil of Mount Kenya. Through mutual relationships, founder and green buyer, Andy Wilkin met producer siblings, Rita and Patrick Mukundi in 2023. They discovered a shared outlook on business, closeness to family, and desire to form long-term relationships. And with such juicy, bright fruit flavours exploding off the cupping table, we looked no further and purchased a quarter of their harvest.
Rita and Patrick are our first direct trade partners in East Africa.
The Land
Embu, Kenya
Embu County occupies some of the most fertile soil of the Kenya highlands. There are two seasons each year and the weather is favourable for diverse agriculture. Because of its proximity to Mount Kenya, Embu receives substantial rainfall and cooler temperatures that are mitigated by the high altitude.
