After judging the Cup of Excellence in El Salvador, our head roaster, Tiff, returned with Campo Bello: one of the greatest spectacles on the cupping table.
Perched high in the Apaneca-Ilamatepec Biosphere Reserve, this boutique farm and hotel is a testament to three generations of the Rivas Chacón family’s dedication. Their natural Geisha has earned back-to-back Cup of Excellence honours, including this year’s #11 placement in the Natural category.
Tiff explains, “When scoring Campo, the tartaric sparkling acidity was really interesting, followed up with a long and sweet aftertaste.”

Rivas Chacón family, Campo Bello
Finca Campo Bello resides on the slopes of the Santa Ana Volcano with breathtaking views above the clouds.
The Rivas family has a rich history on the land, and in the past five years, have completely transformed their plantation. They've replaced older crops with the highly prized Geisha variety and expanded cultivation of manzanas (apple trees) while preserving the virgin tropical forest.
A deep respect for the land has earned them Cup of Excellence awards in the past two years.

The Apaneca-Ilamatepec Biosphere Reserve in western El Salvador is part of the Central America Volcanic Arc (CAVA), one of the world's most significant volcanic chains. The biosphere reserve acts as an essential ecological corridor and a symbol of the harmonious relationship between people and nature. Its unique terrain, altitude, volcanic soil, and southern exposure all contribute to cultivating world-class arabica coffee.
