What is Cup of Excellence?

Cup of Excellence is the most prestigious competition and auction for high-quality coffees. The scrutiny that Cup of Excellence coffees undergo is unmatched anywhere in the specialty coffee industry. Each year, thousands of coffees are submitted for consideration, and winning coffees are sold in global online auctions at premium prices. The vast majority of auction proceeds go to the farmers.

“Being selected to the International Jury was a huge honour. Placing the winning bid to roast my favourite COE coffee is a dream come true.”

Tiff Bhagwandin

For 60 years and four generations the Juárez family has produced coffee in Belén Village, Santa Rosa de Lima. Guillermo Juarez (pictured here) is the oldest of seven siblings and manages the farm’s agronomy while his son, Willy, manages the family mills.

They remain true to their legacy by producing some of the finest coffees in the region and protecting their natural resources and biodiversity. The estate is divided into 15 hectares for coffee production and 35 hectares for a nature reserve with pine, cypress, and other native tree species.

The Guatemala Cup of Excellence first recognized Don Guillermo’s coffee in 2014.
