How to Brew with an AeroPress

A fun, portable brewer with endless applications. (Spoiler: We use the inverted method.)

WHAT YOU NEED

  • AeroPress brewer
  • AeroPress microfilter
  • Stirring utensil
  • Gooseneck kettle
  • Digital scale & timer
  • Burr grinder

Measurements

Amount of Coffee: 15.5g

Amount of Water: 248g

Ratio: 1:16

Water Temperature: 30 seconds off the boil

Grind Size: Medium-fine, slightly finer than pour over

Brew Time: 3 minutes

Follow These Steps

Step 1

Set your Aeropress

Place filter into AeroPress cap, fasten to AeroPress, and place on top of your mug.

Step 2

Pour

Add coffee grinds to bottom of AeroPress, place brewer on the scale, and tare. Start timer and pour all 248g of water.

Step 3

Stir

Use your AeroPress Stirrer to stir in a backward-forward motion to wet all of your grounds.

Step 4

Steep

Gently push the plunger to just above ④ mark on the AeroPress, and steep.

Step 5

Plunge

After 3 minutes, push the plunger down slowly over a minute until you hear a hissing sound.
