How to brew with a French Press

Strong and uncomplicated coffee that can be lower in acidity and heavier in body.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • French Press brewer
  • Kettle (Gooseneck preferred)
  • Digital scale & timer
  • Burr grinder
  • Spoon or stirring utensil

Measurements

Amount of Coffee: 30g

Amount of Water: 480g

Ratio: 1:16

Water Temperature: 30 seconds off the boil

Grind Size: Medium, slightly finer than Auto Drip

Brew Time: 4 minutes

Follow These Steps

Step 1

Add Coffee

Add coffee grinds, place French Press on the scale, and tare.

Step 2

Pour

Slowly pour all 480 grams of water in a slow circular motion and wet all of your grounds.

Step 3

Wait then Stir

After 4 minutes, gently stir with a spoon allowing grounds to submerge to the bottom of the French Press.

Step 4

Plunge & Decant

Insert the plunger and slowly press down. Immediately transfer your brew to a mug or carafe.
